Stunt bears!

April 23, 2010 – 6:54 PM CDT

Jo headed deep into the woods today.  She is inaccessible except for the signals she sends to satellites and on to our computer.  Lily and Hope stayed put on the peninsula they moved to yesterday—the one Lily used last fall.  No one has yet reported seeing Juliet.  However, Braveheart and her yearlings showed up and, although very skittish, she let us put her radio-collar back on.  She is once again sending her location to our computer.

Hope - April 21, 2010As many of you know, we installed a streaming webcam overlooking the pond at the Bear Center.  We are still working out some issues with it, but it should just get better over time.  It can be seen at http://www.bear.org/website/visit-us/nabc-webcam.html.

The video posted this evening at http://www.bear.org/website/lily-a-hope/den-cam-video-clips.html is from a couple days ago but shows some interesting behavior we wanted to share.  Hope wants desperately to nurse but Lily has other ideas.  She is in her ‘crazy bear’ playful mood.  Hope hangs on as Lily stands up to rub a snag and then Hope proceeds to climb up Lily and onto the snag.  It’s a show these two could take ‘on the road’!

Thank you again for your contributions.
