An Eagle and a Plight - UPDATE January 26, 2026
Are feathers rising on the back of its neck the same as a dog raising its hackles or a person feeling the hairs on the back his neck? Or is it just some wind?
Whatever the eagle is feeling, I’ve felt a little pressure lately myself, trying to get some things done before I have to go in to have my left ankle completely replaced. The surgery was initially scheduled as an out-patient surgery on January 26, but now it’s an in-patient procedure scheduled for February 6 that includes staying in the hospital for at least a week while they see how I’m doing. I can’t put any weight on it until they say so, which makes the in-patient idea sound easier and safer. And the delay gives me more days to wind up work things before I have to go in.
Donna is going to put food out at the WRI while I’m in the hospital, and she will be getting things set up for my return and going in for physical therapy twice a week for two months once I can put weight on the new ankle. One problem is that I won’t be able to take pictures and write updates while I’m laid up.
Donna has missed our nature walks these past years. Getting my ankle fixed (and later my right knee) will let me be a better husband.
Thank you for all you do,
