Eyes Peering in the Window - UPDATE January 10, 2026
Blue jay
Sitting at my desk, it’s hard to know what visitors are thinking when they peer in at me. From the way the blue jay is sitting on the branch, is it asking if I noticed how pretty its wing is?
Blue jay
Is the blue jay that is standing just a foot outside my window asking me to bring out more food?
Bald Eagle
Is the eagle reading my thoughts that no matter how much I appreciate an eagle’s visit, it’s been nearly three months since I’ve seen a bear. Or is it wishing that the big pile of beef fat pieces outside my window were not frozen together so it could easily swoop by and grab a piece or two like when it’s warmer.
Or maybe none of the above. Sometimes it’s hard to know what they’re thinking.
