Chloe and a Male, Sharon’s Bear News - UPDATE May 24, 2022

Chloe and maleChloe (right) and male share a meal

Yesterday early morning, Chloe was seen in the neighborhood being chummy with a male, but it is not Herbie. I don’t know where Herbie is, but if he is off without Chloe, he is missing out. However, Chloe might be with the male she wants. The male is said to be a little brown, which makes me think she might be with the male that sired Charlie Brown. Some females have a knack for finding a favorite old mate, as we remember year after year for June and Big Harry—also Braveheart and One-eyed Jack. I remember Braveheart getting attention from other males but leaving them to head to where she had mated with Jack two years earlier—and she found him. The male with Chloe (Chloe is the one looking over her shoulder) doesn’t look brown in the picture, but if he just finished shedding brown fur, he would look black if there wasn’t enough sunlight yet at 6:30 AM. The picture was sent from a cell phone, so it isn’t that clear.

Large leafed asterLarge-leafed asterBear foods are popping up all over, as with these large-leafed aster leaves from May 20, which is a week or two late. I think of that happening about May 8-10, and leaves on trees looking almost like summer by May 17. But it’s May 24 and looking like spring yet.

Spring is exciting, and it’s still developing.

Bear-keeper Sharon Herrell sent her very good Bear News about the four bears, their weights, the upcoming Half-Birthday Party for the bears, and more. Wonderful pictures in it. Bear News – May 23, 2022 https://bear.org/bear-news-may-23-2022/
