A Lily Fan captured a 9-minute video of Lucky and Holly that has good visibility and color. Captured in the video is Holly’s startled movement at 2:46 followed by jaw-clacking at 2:51, Holly and Lucky buried in straw behind herwhich black bears do when they are scared, but Holly immediately settled down when she saw it was Lucky.
Another point of interest comes at 43 seconds when a BIG puff of steam rises from the straw at the wrong end of Lucky—surprising volume for an animal that has not eaten for months.
The lack of interaction is so different from last year. I’ve never seen wild bears other than mothers and cubs den together. We’ll see if they den together again this fall. https://youtu.be/D3vmJhPSQkc
Looking forward to the cub we hope to get this spring.
Thank you for all you do.
