Tasha, Holly, Wildlife Reunions - UPDATE July 27, 2016

Tasha and Holly were being friendly through a fence today after weeks of nervous body language. Tasha also ate food through the fence a foot from Ted. She did it after a little nervous hesitation. Big HarryBig HarryTed was making his friendly sounds toward people at the moment. He paid no attention to Tasha. Lucky is still a problem toward her. Plans are to let Tasha begin exploring the big enclosure soon.

At the Wildlife Research Institute, it was Q&A night for the Bear Center Interns this evening. Among the bears stimulating questions were Big Harry and Loppy. With his beat-up face and ears shortened by too many bites, he might be the bravest bear here—or the most foolish. He takes on bears bigger than him and has the face to show it.

LoppyLoppyIt was a great time with the interns. We want to give them all the experience we can. Some of them intend to come back next year, which is the biggest compliment we could get. They become ever more valuable, along with the volunteer Bear Educators who gain similar experience and return year after year.

We got a notice today that a program named Wild Animal Reunions is airing on BBC2 in England at 8 PM UK time (2 PM bear time), which means it has already aired. One of the photos about the program had a picture of me, so I suspect this is the episode that contains a couple minutes that they filmed here last year. Maybe it is scheduled to re-play.

Thank you for all you do.

Lynn Rogers, Biologist, Wildlife Research Institute and North American Bear Center
