Keeping Our Fingers Crossed - UPDATE September 1, 2014

Ted's fur in transitionTed's fur in transitionWith a hunter a hundred yards east of WRI and another across the road to the west, we are keeping our fingers crossed for the bears we know. Nearly two thousand bears will likely be killed across Minnesota in the next two to three weeks when the majority of the kill takes place. We dearly hope the bears we know are not among them. These are the bears we and the world can learn from. There is much more learning and sharing to be done.

Looking at gentle Ted’s big head and 608 pounds, we know he would make a great trophy. We’re glad he is safe in his home at the Bear Center. He is shedding the last clumps of old fur, and new fur is growing in everywhere. The Ivermectin must be working. He is going to look neat, sleek, and magnificent shortly.

Thank you all for all you do.
