Added Warmth for Ted - UPDATE December 10, 2012
Sharon and John bring straw to Ted - Dec 10, 2012With temperatures edging down toward zero fahrenheit, the Bear Center staff wondered if Ted would like his back door closed to reduce wind and snow blowing through. Sharon Herrell and John Leonard dragged 2 bales of straw—a job made easy by a sled newly purchased by a Lily Fan. They stacked the bales to block the rear opening.
Ted was too lethargic to pay attention to these two familiar, trusted caretakers.
Sharon and John block Ted's back door - Dec 10, 2012He looked comfortable on his new straw from two days ago. In the wild, some bears den on the surface of the ground and get by fine, but most bears find dens that at least block the wind.
Tomorrow we hope to start a series of stories and pictures about Lucky’s early days at the Bear Center.
Ted in his den - Dec 10, 2012Sue is in New Hampshire with family through December 18. From all accounts, she and Lily Fans had a fun get-together yesterday in Sturbridge, MA and raised $827 toward the Hope Learning Center. Super!
Thank you for all you do.
