Ribbons – UPDATE August 19, 2012

Bedecked Daisy heading out - Aug 19, 2012 Daisy heading out - Aug 19, 2012 Daisy in her glory - Aug 19, 2012Daisy - Aug 19, 2012Today, we began tying stiff, fluorescent, duct-tape ribbons to radio-collars. Lily and Juliet joined Daisy as ‘bedecked’ bears. They look silly and garish, but—if it helps hunters see their collars—it’s worth it.

We'll bolt stiff, bright, reflective, plastic strips to the collars soon as well. The material is BioThane and has been donated by BioPlastics.  We used it last year and were pleased with how well it held up. We've worked out a new method of attaching it to the collars this year. We’ll do everything we can to make the collars visible.

Thank you for all you do.
