June’s eye still mending
To give June her antibiotic today (dose #8), we tracked her and her cubs down in another clear-cut filled with raspberry bushes and rotting logs (ant colonies).
The radio-collared bears are safe. We’re still hoping for a sighting of Jo so we can put her radio-collar back on her. A brief video taken yesterday of Lily and family is posted at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUhEjrMqfzc.
A bit of good news today. The Minnesota Education Association, the umbrella organization for Minnesota teachers, invited us to speak at the annual MEA conference on October 20. We’ll talk about the importance of getting solid scientific information about bears into classrooms, what it means to students, and how our Education Outreach that follows Minnesota State Graduation Standards is stimulating student interest in our wild environment and has set students onto a course of caring for Minnesota habitats.
Another amazing day of voting for America’s Favorite Park—61,900 votes, putting us 33,000 farther ahead of number 3 and 3,731 votes closer to number 1. To vote, go to http://m.livepositively.com/park_details.jsp?parkId=556 and vote over and over.
Thank you for all you do.
